My wife, she is hilarious.
So I am a stubborn mule when it comes to foot wear, I admit it. Once my shoes get broken in, I love them and never want to let them go. Sadly, about the same time my shoes get broken in proper, is about the same time that they get… broken.
I must admit, though, I did need new ones. This past marching season I participated in a particularly rainy competition day. For the rehersal before hand it rained and my sneakers (which also have holes in the soles) soaked all the way through. For the competition proper, I changed in to nice clothes, put on dry socks with my nice slip-on shoes, and then proceeded to step in 3 different puddles. The puddles were unavoidable. Anyhow, all of my shoes and socks were so thoroughly soaked that I had to wear my bedroom slippers (which are also developing holes (eery pattern here eh?)) out of the house the day after.
It was time to let these guys go.
My loving wife gave me the push by going out and buying me new shoes without my knowledge. She got the style I like, in the size I like, for the price I would have. She’s great. The shoes are lovely, but they are a beast to break in, as are all slip-ons I guess. Also, it’s a crime what happens to these shoes when they are worn. Before being sullied by my abnormally wide, and awkwardly dainty hooves, the shoes are unwrinkled and exceptionally classy looking. After one wearing, however, the wrinkles appear and I feel they lose a lot of their classiness. Circle of life I guess.
Also, they do that thing where the slip off my heel while I walk, because they are too stiff to conform to my foot. I can’t wait for that to pass. For the time to come when my feet are not treated as their enemies, but instead as their trusted partners and confidants.
Soon, my stinky-toed carriages… soon.
IN OTHER NEWS
Let’s talk some commerce. I have opened a new store on a new website. Oh, by the way, I have a new website. Big announcements all around. It is a website for which I will be stashing my portfolio, my official store, and showing any thought I basically care to write down. There have been many that I haven’t because I figured my regular comic site wasn’t the forum for every random thought.
…Well not EVERY random thought.
Anyhow, there is a new store with two new items. A mini comic of Off-Panel Hero and of Purgatory Pub. I printed 50 of each of these for convention season. I sold out of Purgatory Pub, so I have reprinted, and re-painted all the covers. I have only 4 copies of Off-Panel Hero left. Each copy has been hand-screen printed by yours truly. Due to a recent screen printing fiasco, I have sworn off the process entirely. Never going to do it again. I may reprint Off-Panel Hero, but these 4 are the last to ever have been screen printed.
The original pages to Off-Panel Hero and Purgatory Pub are for sale. I haven’t listed them yet, but they are. email me if you are interested, and I’ll point you to where you need to go.
I also printed mini-comics of the Penny story, but I only have one left.
This is never going to be reprinted as a mini comic again. It will be re-printed in “Funny Thing Happened Today: Book 2”, but never a mini again and never screen printed again.
Now, one of you delightful folk expressed an interest in owning this mini, and I would like to open it up to her first. If she is no longer interested, I will either put it in the store or on ebay. Email me and let your desires be known!
In the mean time, feel free to poke around the new store and the new site. More fun things will come!
